DevMatch is an AI native service that helps mission-driven teams hire engineers who uniquely fit. It matches people on evidence of real work mined from public data — open source contributions, writing, and talks — instead of resumes anyone can fake. Founders describe a role or paste a job description and get a credible shortlist, with uniqueness of mission fit as a first class signal. DevMatch is available as a website and as an MCP server, so it works directly inside Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, and any MCP compatible assistant.

## Who it is for
Mission-driven founding teams—and the early engineering leaders on them—who are drowning in low signal, often fraudulent applicants and need a credible shortlist fast.

## Why it exists
AI flooded hiring with fake applicants and generated resumes, collapsing the signal in every traditional channel. At the same time, small elite teams now out compete much larger organizations, so a single mis hire is expensive. The market needs evidence, not more noise. DevMatch reads the public work that is already there and turns it into a unique-fit shortlist.

## How it is different
Profile based networks score self reported data; popularity tools score proxies like stars and followers. DevMatch matches unique public work with evidence across GitHub and beyond, and treats uniqueness of mission fit as a first class signal — what early teams actually hire on. It is delivered agent first through MCP and an API, not as one more SaaS seat. The moat is the public-work graph plus the matching engine built on top of it.

## Business model
Pay monthly for the platform, or pay on hire when we run Placement. Never both.

**Platform** — monthly company-shared credits (reset monthly, no rollover):
- Free: $0/month — 250 credits; directory; MCP after /chat
- Pro: $129/month — 350 credits; full profiles, contact, export
- Enterprise: custom — contract credit allocation, integrations, and SLA

Platform credit costs:
- Ranked shortlist run (`find_candidates`, chat, Slack /devmatch): 25 credits
- Reveal identity on a shortlist you already paid for: 0 credits
- `get_profile` (MCP), per profile: 1 credit
- `find_similar_projects` (MCP): 3 credits

**Placement** — done-for-you sourcing and outreach; no Pro subscription required:
- Card on file required at submit ($0 today); fee only on confirmed hire
- Base midpoint under $200k: $10,000 flat fee
- Base midpoint $200k and above: $15,000 flat fee
- Never stack Platform and Placement on the same hire

## What DevMatch is not
- Not a two sided marketplace. Engineers are discovered from public contribution data; they do not sign up or apply.
- Not a resume database. Ranking comes from evidence of real public work, not self described bios.
- Not popularity ranking. Signal is evidence of real contributions, not stars, followers, or buzz.
- Not limited to GitHub. Git is the cornerstone, but the platform also draws on writing, talks, and other public work.

## Where it is going
DevMatch starts with evidence-backed engineer hiring and grows into the coordination layer for builders: matching mission aligned, highly capable people to the ventures that need them, so small elite teams can rival much larger ones. The thesis is skill value alignment — as intelligence gets cheap, what gets built depends on who is matched to which mission.
